Whenever they want me!
10 Questions

1. What’s the coolest thing to ever happen in your life?
Personally, of course are my children. Professionally? When I was 15 we were working the "First Annual Longhorn Roundup" selling programs in Houston. Alabama was the headliner. There was no CMT then, if you knew who they were it was only because you had their album. Anyway, these guys came by on a golf cart and stopped at the Pepsi Challenge Booth, (not to show my age or anything) and I said to the girl with me, that's Alabama!!! and she said it wasn't and dared me to go over there.. So I did.. and I tapped one on the shoulder and who should turn around but Randy Owen! So, what did I say to him? " Do you want to by a program?", not I LOVE your music, or anything like that, but "Do you want to by a program?" By this time all of Alabama has turned around and are grinning at me, he said:"Is it Free?" I said: "5 dollars" he said politely: "No thank you", and off I went feeling like the biggest fool to ever walk the face of the earth.. Fast forward years later, I'm in radio, and I've had the opportunity to meet just about everyone, but Alabama. Once, my back stage passes got lost, once, they cancelled backstage since it was not long after Randy had his heart attack, and then finally I was in Memphis at St. Jude's getting ready for the Radiothon and who was there, but Randy Owen.. So I'm standing in line, thinking back on the last time we met, sure I'm not going to say anything about that, and when it's my turn, it was kind of an out of body experience, before I know it, I was half way through the story... so I managed to end it as gracefully as possible, by saying: "So what I really meant to say was I am a big fan, and I love your music"... and Randy Owen said:" I'm so glad we had the opportunity to clear this up, because what I meant to say was of course I want a program, honey"........ (how cool is that) so what do I say? "YOU ARE SO COOL, now I'm going to have this great Alabama story forever".. I'll just never be graceful, but I do have the greatest Alabama story.

I'd really like to get this weight off once and for all.

6. What is your favorite pair of shoes?
I have MBT's. They are a special shoe that was developed by a doctor visiting a region in Africa that have the healthiest people in the world, and from it developed these shoes. They are easy on your back, make you walk correctly, (most of us don't) and get you in line, as you balance your way through your day. By the end of the day my feet and my back used to kill me, and now it's all fixed just by these shoes. (by the way you can only get them at Specialty Shoes and Diabetic Supplies, and yes they are for everyone who is on their feet a lot, they are awesome) Oh, and my purple ropers.

I love eating at the Cattle Company, and mainly we hang out at home a lot, I know that sounds weird, but we are so rarely there, and I love being around my children, they are growing up too fast.

9. What is the first thought you have when you wake up?
What am I late for now.

10. What is your favorite weather condition?
Depends, if I'm home for the day, rain is nice when it's cold and the fireplace is blazing.. If I'm working, sunny and 72. I think it's sunny and 72 about 3 days a year.. I live in the wrong part of the world for that.

Where'd she go?
Ha.. I'm still here at KYKR. I'm not doing a show full time anymore. My husband and I opened a business about three years ago, and I've gone to work full time with him, but I'm here as often as I can be here!

Sooo disappointed that My Cowboys lost..  so that makes that little poll.. not near as interesting anymore, but I still wanna see what you think.. In a way it would be cool if Green Bay took it, considering Farve and all.... the Football talk is just not the same without the Cowboy in it.. hooooo hummmmm..

Well last night, I emceed the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame Dinner at the MCM Elegante.  I'm on their executive board of directors, this is the second year I've attended but the first year to emcee.. It was lovely..  Cindy Westfall did a great job putting everything together. The silent auction was great.. even Cowboy memorabilia and overnight stays and stuff like that..  There were several speakers, like Greg Gentry with Valero..(chairman of the board for JA) ( I sat at the same table with him and his wife for the dinner, very nice people) of course we wound up talking about Rita.. isn't it something how that is almost always a topic when we gather... still..
Chuck McElroy  a major league baseball pitcher turned entrepreneur living in Friendswood was our keynote speaker. He is from Port Arthur, gave a very nice speech, very touching, about the support of his grandmother, and mother, and the way the role models had allowed him to believe his dream, he was very nice.. then Mayer Prince of Port Arthur gave him a key to the city, which made him tear up a little..(he had gone to school with her son, which made it all the more special)(I had never seen Mayer Prince in person, she a good speaker)  Then the volunteer of the year was recognized, Vicki Derese, she's with Chevron, and then Dick Cuneo was inducted into the 2008 Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions.  I found both Vicki and Dick to be real roll models.  They work hard, raise a family, work for Chevron, but have always found time to give to the community, and young people through Junior Achievement, and that's just to be applauded. In reading off their bios it was a "when/ where" of charity work that went on and on. Of all the investments we make; I believe the investment we make in our young people is the most important one.. and sometimes as a parent, it's kind of limited.. I was telling a story last night about a child that looked up and said "why doesn't that boy know he can do whatever he wants to do". I know the child's parents and I'm sure they spend a lot of time encouraging their son he could be whatever he wanted to be, to reach for the stars, all that stuff.. but sometimes it's the parents, sometimes it's a teacher, sometimes it's a friend, or a junior achievement worker  speaking to the child, maybe even saying the same thing, but in just they right way, or at the right time, where they'll "get it." We all pigeon ourselves in holes sometimes where we limit our thinking and our capacities, and having outside help is sometimes the only way to change it.. and sometimes the adults help, might just come by way of a child.. I encourage you to join the Junior Achievement Program, and in helping, which is such a great thing to do, you might just be helping yourself..

Happy New Year! Hope you had some time in December to spend with your family and friends, and wish you a very happy, peaceful, 2008..
I had some time off in December, and really enjoyed spending some time with my kids.. I'm learning more and more all the time that old saying "They grow up so fast" is more than just a saying..
Had a great time on Crockett Street for New Years Eve. I think everybody was there at the Dixie.. Crazy crowd, but a lot of fun.  Well even though most of us are threw with time off for awhile, at least we have some cool events coming up, so check back for details, and thanks for listening!
